At long last, a blog from KENYA!!
We arrived at SEEK (Suba Environmental Education of Kenya) in Mbita, Kenya on January 23rd, and it has been amazing. It is hard to believe that we have only been there two weeks. Our host, Paul, is wonderful. He is a Kenyan native and he wives on the base with his wife and two children, as well as a few other staff members. Erin, his wife is Canadian and their two adopted sons, John and Joshua, are just precious. (Though a little hesitant of all the Mzungus at first) SEEK is a Christian organization that promotes environmental awareness, as well as ministering to the community in many different ways.
We have jumped right into ministry in Mbita. We are visiting the hospital weekly for prayer, working at schools to minister to them and teach them about taking care of the environment, going to girls groups to teach talk to them about self-defense and other “girl talk.” We have been visiting widows to minister to them and pray with them, and do house visits as well. Starting on the 10th, we will be doing two weeks of outreach at a time, visiting bush churches to work with them, working at orphanages, doing beach ministry, lots of different stuff. My main ministry for the last two weeks has been working in the kitchen, building relationships with Joy, Prisca, and Michael, our wonderful cooks, and cooking for the staff and my team. God has started to open a lot of doors there, and we have reached a deeper level of trust and vulnerability. I am so grateful for them, and will be writing more about my work there soon.
We have no electricity in the cabins so we use lanterns at night, but it is a fair trade for a TOILET!! Woohoo! No more squatty potty for this girl! We are right on Lake Victoria, and it is simply GORGEOUS!! Absolutely surreal. There is wildlife everywhere, monkeys in the trees outside our cabins, hippos in the lake (gotta be careful at night), and many other little African critters. Pictures are coming soon! All in all, I am so at peace in Mbita, and know this is exactly where God wants us and has been preparing us for. Looking back over the past 2 months, I can see His hand intricately moving and setting this up. He is SO GOOD!!
Right now I am in Jinja, Uganda for debrief. Our AIM leaders have come in and it is a time to relax, talk over the good and bad of the last few months, and prepare us for the remaining three. (Hard to believe there are only three months left… I could stay here for so much longer!) Tomorrow we are going white water rafting on the Nile River as a little debrief treat. Pray for me! J
Ok, so much more to come, but internet is few and far between right now, so keep checking for updates. I will post as often as possible. Love you all so much!

Loved seeing you at debrief! The SA team has a piano in their house and I started busting out “Duck Tales” but no one got it 🙁 made me miss you LOL.
