Finally, another post! The internet where we are staying is down so I am writing a quick update from the Java House near us. Everything is well in Kenya and our visits have been so encouraging, informational and have been a blessing. I will be writing a fuller, more in depth post once internet is more available, but for now, I will do a micro-update. We have been able to visit the Compassion International School in the Kawangware Slums and spend time with some of the staff and the children. We also visited the FREMO maternity clinic to hear about their ministry in the slums and learn about the counseling needs for mother's and families. Later in the week, we were able to visit the Tumaini Missionary counseling center to interview the staff and lean about the needs within missionary care and learn what we can be doing to prepare or work within this field. Today, we visited the Center for Victims of Torture. It was so wonderful to hear what is being done in the area and again, to learn about the growth in the field of global mental health care. There will definitely be a longer post on this site later. We have many more sites booked for the coming week, then we leave for Uganda on June 23rd. I can't believe how time is flying and the ways God has been blessing us and opening doors! Thank you for your continued prayers for this ministry and our journey here in Kenya. We have made many friends and contacts along the way, which has been an extended blessing.
I also have a request. I am continuing to raise support for this mission as we are here and pray that if you are able and God moves you to do so, you might consider supporting me in this ministry. The total for the trip is $2800.00 and so far I have raised 1/3 of that, for which I am so grateful! I am praying that God will help to provide the rest through the generosity of others.
